The 17th annual Rock Chalk Roundball Classic took place on March 15, 2024, at Lawrence Free State High School. This charity event, hosted by Brian Hanni, featured over a dozen former Kansas Jayhawks competing to raise funds for families of local children battling cancer. Among the notable participants were former players Ochai Agbaji, Udoka Azubuike, and Sherron Collins, but the highlight was the reunion of fan-favorite teammates Devonte’ Graham and Svi Mykhailiuk.
Graham and Mykhailiuk, who played together for four seasons at the University of Kansas, showcased their skills once more in a friendly scrimmage. The duo is particularly remembered for their pivotal role in leading the Jayhawks to a Final Four appearance during the 2017-18 NCAA season. During that remarkable season, Mykhailiuk set the KU record for the most three-pointers made in a single season, sinking a total of 115 shots from beyond the arc. Graham closely followed with 110 three-pointers, tying him with Jeff Boschee for the third most in the program’s history.
As fans cheered, Graham and Mykhailiuk demonstrated their enduring chemistry on the court, reminding everyone of their electrifying performances during their college years. Mykhailiuk is preparing for his second season with the Utah Jazz, while Graham, who has not played in an NBA game since April 2024, seeks new opportunities after spending last season in the G League.
The event not only highlighted the talents of former Jayhawks but also served as a reminder of the strong community spirit within Kansas basketball. With the participation of popular figures from the program, it drew significant attention and support from fans eager to see their heroes in action once more.
For many attendees, witnessing the reunion of Graham and Mykhailiuk was a heartwarming experience, reinforcing the bonds formed during their time at Kansas. As they took the court together again, it was clear that the legacy of their time as teammates continues to resonate with fans and players alike.
