New York Jets Head Coach, Aaron Glenn, is shown during his first game on job, Sunday, September 7, 2025, in East Rutherford.

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that quarterback Justin Fields has successfully passed concussion protocol and will be back on the field for the team’s upcoming match against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4. The Jets, currently holding an 0-3 record, will face the Dolphins, who share the same win-loss standing, on “Monday Night Football.”

“Justin is playing,” Glenn stated, as reported by SNY’s Connor Hughes. Fields had been sidelined after suffering a concussion during the Jets’ disappointing performance against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. After missing a week of practice and the following game, he returned as a full participant this week, marking a significant step in his recovery. Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who started in Fields’ absence last Sunday, will revert to his backup role.

Fields Poised for Impactful Return

Fields enters this matchup against the Dolphins with an opportunity to significantly impact the Jets’ offensive performance. In Week 3, the team managed to score 27 points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without him, yet the return of Fields is expected to provide a boost to an offense that has struggled early in the season.

The Dolphins’ defense presents an inviting challenge for Fields. This season, they have allowed opposing quarterbacks to achieve a league-high passer rating of 128.9 and are one of only three NFL teams that have yet to force a turnover. Given these statistics, Fields’ ability to exploit weaknesses in the Dolphins’ defense could be crucial for the Jets as they seek their first victory of the season.

In his debut as a Jet, Fields demonstrated significant potential, showcasing a strong connection with former Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson. The duo connected for an early touchdown, and Fields also added two rushing touchdowns in the second half, while limiting negative plays by taking just one sack and avoiding turnovers.

A strong performance against Miami could not only elevate Fields’ status but also stabilize a Jets team that has faced challenges since the season began. The upcoming game will be a pivotal moment for both Fields and the Jets as they aim to turn their fortunes around.

With the spotlight on Fields, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if he can replicate the success he experienced in his first start and help lead the Jets to their first win of the season.
