UPDATE: In an electrifying display of teamwork, the Jemison High School boys’ basketball team crushed Isabella High School with a staggering score of 67-24 in a game held on [insert date]. This decisive victory not only marked a triumphant send-off for the senior Panthers but also showcased Jemison’s peak performance as they prepare for the upcoming playoffs.
Jemison’s head coach James Nabors expressed pride in his team’s execution, stating, “I feel good, our team feels like it’s peaking. All the guys have been sharing the ball, playing good team ball; we played excellent defense.” Nabors emphasized the significance of this game for the seniors, saying, “I wanted to send the seniors out on a good night, so I’m proud of what we’ve done so far, but the job isn’t done.”
The senior class, consisting of Joe Castaing, C.J. Kidd, Graden Mims, Trinton Rudolph, and Darion Slaughter, has been a crucial part of the team for three years. Nabors stated, “They’ve won two JV championships, and I want this group to leave with the area championship, so that’s what we’re working on.” He added, “I’m going to miss this senior group; they’ve played hard, they love each other, they are just a group of good kids.”
The game started with an explosive three-pointer from Slaughter, igniting a commanding 20-0 run in the first quarter. C.J. Kidd contributed five points, while Rudolph, Castaing, and Mims each added two points. Despite a spirited effort, Isabella managed only 11 points in both the second and third quarters, while Jemison scored 12 points in the second and 19 points in the third.
Jemison capped off the game with a fourth-quarter surge, outscoring Isabella 20-2 to seal their dominating victory. Isabella’s coach Tate Leonard commented on the game, stating, “I wasn’t too impressed, but it starts with me. We are a whole lot better than what the score says tonight, but it just didn’t show tonight.”
Isabella’s leading scorer was Brendyn Kirkland, who managed to score nine points. In contrast, Jemison’s standout players included Rudolph with 17 points and Kidd with 13 points. Currently, Jemison holds the third place in the 5A Area 5 region according to MaxPreps.
