The January Jazzfest, the largest winter jazz event in Central New York, will take place at a new venue in 2026. The festival moves to the Timber Banks Clubhouse, a spacious banquet facility situated above Persimmons. This year’s event promises a fresh schedule and an exciting lineup, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.

In a shift from previous years, the festival will run for one hour less, taking place from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM on January 31, 2026. The Timber Banks venue offers a single-level layout, making it more accessible compared to the multiple stories of its former location. The gala will feature a powerful lineup, headlined by the esteemed Upstate New York funk tribute band, ATLAS, renowned for nearly fifty years of performance across the region.

Larry Luttinger, leader of CNY Jazz, expressed gratitude for the support that has made this change possible. “We have Ryan Millard of ‘Moving with Millard’ to thank for this big leap forward, as well as continued support from Seneca Savings and many other loyal corporate sponsors,” Luttinger stated.

A Celebration of Jazz Talent

The festival celebrates multi-generational talent, drawing from the robust educational programs offered by CNY Jazz. The event will kick off with a performance by Dan Fields, a prominent jazz tenor known in Syracuse. He will be followed by millennial guitar virtuoso Drew Serafini and his trio, featuring veteran saxophonist Joe Carello as a special guest.

As the day progresses, the Timber Banks Clubhouse will transform into a vibrant dance party led by ATLAS. Known for their infectious energy and rich musical legacy, the band is expected to engage audiences with their lively performances.

In keeping with the festival’s tradition of nurturing young artists, the event will conclude with a “CNY Jazz Alumni Jam.” This segment will feature some of the most talented professionals who have emerged from CNY Jazz programs over the years, including participants from the summer jazz workshop and the CNY Jazz Youth Orchestra.

“This is all about passing the baton to the jazz artists of the future,” said Luttinger, emphasizing the festival’s commitment to fostering new talent in the jazz community.
