The Jamestown Elkettes convened on February 11, 2024, under the leadership of President Kandace Wold, to discuss upcoming events and recognize community contributions. The gathering featured a special guest, Olivia Holm, who contributed to the evening’s agenda.

During the meeting, the Elkettes received a heartfelt letter from Camp Grassick, expressing gratitude for a Christmas gift that will support the camp’s “Treasure Chest” program this summer. This initiative aims to enhance the camp experience for children by providing essential items.

Financial Reports and Upcoming Events

Minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved. The treasurer’s report indicated that the recent Souper Saturday event was profitable, with all proceeds from the Camp Grassick Raffle successfully mailed out to the camp.

Looking ahead, the Elkettes are gearing up for the Runnin O’ The Green event, with pre-registration held on February 21 at the Elks Lodge. The race is scheduled for March 14, starting at noon from the Fort. In preparation, the Elkettes crafted lanyards for participants, showcasing their commitment to community engagement.

Another highlight on the calendar is the Tables d’ Jour event, set for May 9 at 11 a.m. Co-chairs Melanie Headland and Judy Perleberg will organize this occasion, with Kay Hust and Lisa Barnick overseeing the food committee. The event will feature five decorated tablescapes, promising a visually engaging experience for attendees.

Committee Updates and Community Acknowledgments

The meeting also addressed the formation of a Nominating Committee for the upcoming year, comprising Barnick and Joyce Heinrich. The committee is tasked with filling the positions of vice president and secretary, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership.

February birthdays were acknowledged with special mentions of Lois Humann and Norine Knudson. The hosts for February were Kristen Grenz and Barnick, who contributed to the meeting’s warm atmosphere.

Looking forward to March, members will participate in a “Potluck” month. An email will be sent to all members detailing what each person is bringing, allowing for better organization of attendance and contributions.

The next meeting of the Elkettes is scheduled for March 12, 2024, at the Elks Lodge, where members will continue to foster community spirit and plan additional events. This collaborative approach highlights the Elkettes’ dedication to serving the Jamestown community and supporting local initiatives.
