URGENT UPDATE: A suspect at the center of a wild high-speed chase in Los Angeles just stopped for gas, creating a shocking scene as law enforcement pursued him. The chase, which began just before 10 p.m. on Friday night, involved a stolen dark blue Infinity 250 sedan, reportedly reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.
The driver, exhibiting reckless behavior, weaved through traffic and even drove on the shoulder as police attempted to bring the situation under control. As the pursuit intensified, officers on the ground and a police helicopter overhead decided to momentarily pull back, but not before capturing a dramatic moment on camera.
The chase took a surprising turn when the suspect pulled into a Shell gas station located at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Long Beach Boulevard in Lynwood. Eyewitnesses watched as he filled up his tank, glancing at the camera while attempting to cover his face. After a brief stop, the suspect sped off once again, resuming his reckless driving as City of Bell police resumed their pursuit.
Throughout this chaotic episode, the suspect roamed across major highways including the 105 Freeway, 110 Freeway, 710 Freeway, and 10 Freeway, alongside numerous surface streets. The chase ultimately ended when the driver abandoned the vehicle under the 10 Freeway overpass at Alameda Street near the Fashion District.
In a dramatic twist, the vehicle came to a halt after crashing into a light pole, but the driver was nowhere to be found. As of the latest reports, he remains at large, with authorities suspecting he may have been picked up by an accomplice or potentially carjacked another vehicle.
This overpass has become notorious, as it is the same location where another suspect recently eluded police after abandoning a stolen tanker truck. The community remains on high alert as police continue their search for the suspect, who remains unidentified and untraceable.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. The pursuit raises serious questions about public safety and the lengths to which individuals will go to escape law enforcement.
