Hennepin Health recognized three healthcare providers for their significant contributions to Medicaid and MinnesotaCare recipients in Hennepin County. The awards ceremony took place on September 17, 2023, at the health plan’s headquarters, emphasizing the importance of localized healthcare services in enhancing community health.
Among the honorees, Children’s Dental Services received accolades for its commitment to providing dental care directly in downtown Minneapolis. Since 2024, the organization has offered bi-monthly dental services, which have been integrated with other county health offerings. This initiative has proven vital in increasing dental care utilization among those enrolled in Medicaid and MinnesotaCare, addressing a critical gap in access to dental health services.
Dr. Paul Olin, another award recipient, has significantly impacted dental care accessibility through his work at the University of Minnesota. His efforts have accounted for more than 1 in 20 dental visits by members of Hennepin Health since 2024. Dr. Olin’s collaboration with students has fostered a greater understanding of community health needs, enhancing the overall quality of care.
During the ceremony, Dr. Krishnan Subrahmanian, Chief Medical Officer of Hennepin Health, noted, “Our providers radically shape the way people experience and view health care.” This statement reflects the transformative role that dedicated healthcare professionals play in improving patient experiences and outcomes.
Everyday Miracles was recognized for its exemplary medical care services, providing nearly 600 visits that encompass a spectrum of services from prenatal to postpartum care. These offerings have substantially contributed to the health and well-being of mothers and their children within the community.
The impact of these providers was highlighted by Mike Herzing, Chief Executive Officer of Hennepin Health, who stated, “These providers exemplify what it means to partner in service of our community. Their work is transforming lives in Hennepin County, and we’re thrilled to recognize their impact.” This sentiment resonated with all those present as honorees stood together, symbolizing their collective commitment to advancing healthcare access in the region.
The event served not only to acknowledge individual achievements but also to showcase broader efforts to address healthcare disparities, especially among underserved populations. Sadiya Khan, who accepted the award for Children’s Dental Services, emphasized her organization’s dedication to improving health outcomes for children across Hennepin County.
As healthcare continues to evolve, the recognition of these providers underscores the ongoing need for innovation and collaboration in delivering quality services to vulnerable communities. Hennepin Health remains committed to enhancing healthcare access and equity, ensuring that all residents receive the care they need.
