URGENT UPDATE: HBO Max has officially launched in Germany and Italy as of January 13, 2026, through a strategic partnership with Prime Video. This collaboration aims to enhance viewer access and expand HBO Max’s footprint in Europe.
In a bold move to reach more audiences, HBO Max is now available as an add-on subscription for Amazon Prime Video customers in Germany, Italy, and Austria. “Prime Video’s vast reach will help us entertain as many people as possible in these new markets,” stated Qaisar Rafique, EVP of Warner Bros. Discovery, in remarks reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
This rollout marks a significant step in HBO Max’s expansion strategy, following its recent launch in eight new countries. The platform is set to bundle with local services such as RTL+ and waipu.tv in Germany, while partnering with TIMVISION in Italy. It will also be accessible through major app stores and platforms, with three subscription tiers: Basic with Ads, Standard, and Premium.
HBO Max is diving deep into local content, premiering the Italian drama Portobello on February 20, 2026, and the German heist series Banksters. Viewers can also look forward to new exclusive titles including Heated Rivalry, One Battle After Another, and It: Welcome to Derry.
Additionally, fan-favorite returning series such as Euphoria, Succession, Rick and Morty, and The Last of Us will be available to stream. Movie offerings include blockbuster titles like Superman, The Conjuring: Last Rites, Dune, and The Lord of the Rings.
For sports enthusiasts, HBO Max will feature a sports add-on providing live access to major events such as the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, the Australian Open, and the UFC.
This is just the beginning, as HBO Max plans to complete its European rollout with the UK and Ireland set to join in March 2026.
