Hadley Solomon has announced her candidacy for the District B seat on the St. Vrain Valley School Board. With over 16 years of experience in the district and a strong commitment to public education, Solomon aims to address key challenges facing local schools. She brings a diverse background as a business consultant and community leader, bolstered by her educational qualifications, including a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arizona.

In her professional career, Solomon has focused on helping organizations solve problems and improve collaboration. Her community involvement includes being a graduate of Leadership St. Vrain and serving as President of Grassroots St. Vrain. Additionally, she has actively participated in various educational institutions, including the Parent Advisory Boards at Niwot Elementary and Sunset Middle, and chaired the Annual Online Auction Committee for the Niwot High School Education Foundation for three years. Solomon also played a key role in advocating for the passage of the 2016 bond aimed at improving local schools.

Solomon’s campaign faces pressing issues, particularly regarding the treatment of marginalized student groups. As the current political climate under the Trump administration threatens targeted support for students of color and protections for transgender and immigrant students, she emphasizes the importance of public schools in safeguarding the dignity and rights of all students.

Public schools, according to Solomon, must create an environment where every student feels safe and respected. She plans to uphold Colorado’s state policies that protect these vulnerable populations, asserting, “When students feel safe and respected, they are able to learn and thrive.” She envisions a school culture that welcomes differences as strengths, fostering a sense of belonging among all students.

With the St. Vrain Valley School District experiencing significant disparities in enrollment, Solomon acknowledges the complexity of managing under-enrolled schools alongside those requiring additional infrastructure. She advocates for strategic planning driven by data and community feedback to address these challenges effectively. Potential solutions may include innovative educational models like K–8 schools and adjustments to transportation services, or constructing new facilities in rapidly growing areas.

“Our district faces different challenges in different areas,” Solomon stated. “The goal is to keep schools close to communities while being responsible with taxpayer money.” Her approach reflects a dedication to both smart growth and fiscal responsibility, ensuring that educational needs align with community development.

Another critical issue Solomon identifies is the integration of technology within schools. As digital tools become increasingly prevalent, she stresses the need for their safe and effective use. Solomon believes that while technology like artificial intelligence can enhance learning, it is vital to protect student privacy and prevent distractions from educational objectives.

“I would support investing in strong technical services, staff training, and clear policies so students can use technology wisely,” she explained. As a board member, her vision includes setting clear direction, actively listening to students and families, and maintaining a focus on safety and opportunity within the educational environment.

Through her candidacy, Hadley Solomon seeks to bring her extensive experience and community engagement to the St. Vrain Valley School Board, addressing pressing issues and ensuring that the district remains committed to fostering academic excellence and innovation for all students.
