H-E-B, the well-known Texas-based grocery chain, has acquired 19.8 acres of land in Sherman, Texas, approximately 70 miles north of Dallas. This purchase was confirmed by a spokesperson for the company, marking another step in H-E-B’s ongoing expansion in North Texas.

Details of the Acquisition

The newly acquired land is located near the northwest quadrant of the intersection of FM 1417 and U.S. 75 in Grayson County, close to the Texas-Oklahoma border. H-E-B spokesperson Mabrie Jackson stated that while there is currently no set date for the construction of a new store, the company is eager to serve more Texans in the coming years.

Jackson noted in a statement, “We look forward to serving more Texans in the coming years.” This sentiment reflects H-E-B’s commitment to expanding its presence in the region.

Recent Developments

This announcement follows a recent acquisition by H-E-B of 22.8 acres of land at the northeast corner of U.S. 377 and Cross Timbers Road in Flower Mound. Construction for a new store at this location is expected to begin this fall. Similar to the Sherman purchase, no specific timeline for the store’s opening in Flower Mound has been established.

Furthermore, H-E-B is also set to begin construction on a new store near the Walsh Ranch development in West Fort Worth. As of now, the company has not provided a construction date for this location either.

Founded in Kerrville and now based in San Antonio, H-E-B has been a staple in Texas for over 120 years. The grocery chain operates more than 455 stores across Texas and Mexico, demonstrating its significant impact on the local economy and its commitment to serving communities.

As H-E-B continues to expand its footprint in North Texas, customers can anticipate more options for grocery shopping in the years to come, solidifying the chain’s role as a key player in the region’s retail landscape.
