BREAKING: Grand Forks Central has triumphed over Bismarck Legacy with a decisive score of 4-0 in the North Dakota state tournament semifinals, securing their spot in the championship game. This victory, achieved Friday night at Scheels Arena, marks the Knights’ third consecutive appearance in the title match.

The top-seeded Knights, who dominated the game with an astonishing 72-14 advantage in shots, will face their crosstown rivals, Red River, for the state crown on Saturday. Red River secured their place by defeating West Fargo Sheyenne in the other semifinal.

Grand Forks Central has proven their dominance throughout the season, entering the tournament as defending champions after winning the 2025 state tournament. They have bested Red River in all three encounters this year, including a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win in the East Region title game.

Junior forward Rylan Spicer ignited the scoring in the first period, netting the only goal past Legacy’s standout senior goaltender, Brody Krumwiede, who made an incredible 68 saves. Central head coach Grantn Paranica praised Krumwiede’s performance, stating, “We played the right way…but we didn’t let that affect us.”

The Knights continued to build their lead as senior forward Trey Clauson and sophomore forward Nolan Marto added goals in the second period, leading to a commanding 4-0 advantage by the end of the frame. Despite relentless pressure, Central was unable to score again in the third period, maintaining their lead as they outshot Legacy 18-5 in the final stretch.

Bismarck Legacy will now face West Fargo Sheyenne in the third-place match. As Grand Forks Central prepares for their rematch with Red River, fans and players alike are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an exhilarating showdown.
