UPDATE: Georgia Bulldogs linebacker CJ Allen made a significant impact last weekend by returning to his hometown of Barnesville, GA, to inspire local youth just days before the highly anticipated game against Florida. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound redshirt junior, currently ranked as the fifth-leading tackler on the team, took time to visit schools and give back to the community that shaped his journey.
Allen’s mission was clear: to motivate and support the younger generation. He visited elementary, middle, and high schools in Barnesville, where he made a donation to the local elementary school, presenting a large novelty check. “The kids there, they show love and kind of look up to me a lot. I just wanted to show my thanks and support them,” Allen said.
This act of generosity is not a one-time event. Allen has previously hosted football camps and participated in community events during Thanksgiving and Christmas, all with the intention of uplifting those around him. He expressed a strong desire to establish an after-school program aimed at providing educational resources and guidance to local children, helping them pursue their dreams.
Allen’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Earlier this month, he was recognized as one of 20 semifinalists for the ninth annual Jesse Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, celebrating both athletic performance and leadership. His teammate, center Drew Bobo, praised Allen for his exemplary leadership on and off the field, stating, “He sets the example for people… He leads by example all the time.”
As the Bulldogs prepare for their crucial matchup against Florida, Allen’s on-field performance is equally impressive. He currently leads Georgia with 56 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and is tied for the team lead with 3 sacks. His contribution was pivotal in Georgia’s recent victory over Ole Miss, where he recorded a team-high 10 tackles.
Looking back on his journey from a freshman to a leading player, Allen emphasizes the importance of confidence in his growth. “Just believing in my ability… That’s the biggest area where I’ve grown as a player,” he noted. His determination and dedication to both his team and community make him a standout figure in college football.
As the Bulldogs gear up for their game against Florida, all eyes will be on Allen—not just for his performance, but for his continued commitment to uplifting his community. Fans can expect to see how this “glue guy” for the Bulldogs will lead both on and off the field in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned for more updates as the countdown to the game continues.
