The Rialto Theater in Florence will host the engaging musical “Ordinary Days” this weekend, presented by the Fremont County-based group, Rooted Gypsy Repertoire. The production, which aims to reveal the extraordinary moments within everyday life, features a talented cast led by Kayla Mueller, the founder of Rooted Gypsy and director of the play.

“Ordinary Days” explores the lives of four young adults as they traverse the complexities of modern existence, including relationships and career challenges. Mueller describes the play as focusing on “what happens in the chaos and stresses of life and how to find the extraordinary in the ordinary day.” This romantic comedy-drama presents two couples living in separate timelines, offering audiences a nuanced perspective on the intricacies of human connections.

The cast also includes Jacob Mueller, Jason Resado, and Kelly Branyik. The production’s music is directed by Damian Kudel, while Michelle Hyatt serves as stage manager. Mueller has long sought to bring “Ordinary Days” to life on stage, having previously missed the chance to perform in a professional production of the play.

Having established Rooted Gypsy in 2023, Mueller has been eager to see this project come to fruition. She emphasizes that, despite the small-town setting of Fremont County, the themes of chaos and stress resonate universally. “Even in a small town, we have chaos, we still have stress, we have all these things that we’re juggling,” she noted.

In a commitment to community service, Rooted Gypsy will donate a portion of the proceeds from this production to local food banks throughout Fremont County. Mueller stated, “While we are pouring into the arts community, we really want to be able to pour back into our communities.” This initiative responds to the increased need for support in recent times, highlighting the organization’s dedication to social responsibility.

“Ordinary Days” is scheduled for performances on March 15, 16, and 17, 2024. Showtimes are at 19:00 on Friday, 14:00 and 19:00 on Saturday, and 14:00 on Sunday. Tickets are priced at $18 per person and are available for purchase at City Market, Big D’s Superfoods, online, or directly at the box office.
