A shooting at a class reunion event in Chattanooga, Tennessee, left at least four people injured on March 30, 2024. According to the Chattanooga Police Department, all four individuals were transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not disclosed information regarding a suspect or confirmed whether any arrests have been made.

The incident occurred at the Tyner Recreation Complex, where a multi-class reunion was taking place for alumni of Tyner High School. The school, now known as Tyner Middle High Academy, recently reopened after the previous campus was demolished to facilitate the construction of a new facility. Earlier this month, a post from the Tyner Alumni Association highlighted that 38 different graduating classes were participating in the reunion weekend.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene. Jeoff Herman, who was present during the shooting, recounted the atmosphere before the incident. “Everybody was just having a good time,” he told NBC News affiliate WRCB. “Then all of a sudden, shots just started going everywhere. Little kids and babies and everything were on the ground.”

As the investigation continues, the community is grappling with the shock of the violence that erupted during what was intended to be a celebratory gathering. The Tyner Alumni Association did not respond to a request for comment from NBC News on the following day.

The shooting has raised concerns about safety at public events and the broader issue of gun violence in the area. Local officials are expected to address these concerns as more details about the incident come to light.

Chattanooga residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. The police have not yet released further details about the circumstances leading to the shooting or the individuals involved.
