The 2025 Fort Bend County Pecan Show recently concluded, showcasing exceptional entries from local growers. The event highlighted the dedication and skill of participants across various divisions, with strong performances from both seasoned and emerging pecan producers.

Commercial Division Highlights

In the Commercial Division, the title of Grand Champion was awarded to the **Kiowa** pecan from **Bernie Brezina** of Fort Bend County. The competition was fierce, with another Grand Champion title going to the **Forkert** variety, presented by **John and Bertha Abraham** from Wharton County. The Reserve Champion honors were claimed by the **Sioux** variety, also from Brezina, and the **Nacono** variety, again by the Abraham duo.

Significant placements included a first-place finish for the **Caddo** pecan, secured by Brezina, while **Kelly and Nancy Kehrer** and the Abrahams rounded out the top three in this category. Further notable results featured the **Desirable** pecan, with **Brody Druke** taking first place and various entries from the Abrahams, including second and third placements.

Other top contenders included **John Greene**, who achieved first place for the **Oconee** variety and multiple placements for both **Forkert** and **Sioux** varieties.

Classic & New Division Successes

The Classic & New Division saw **Chuck Caldwell** emerge victorious with the **Stuart** pecan, while **Susan and Richard Harrison** captured another Grand Champion title with the **Mahan** variety. Reserve Champion honors went to **Mark Hinton** for his **Variety Seedlings** and **Marlies Sciba** with **Cape Fear**.

The Abrahams continued their winning streak, securing a first-place position for **Elliott** and additional placements in both **Jackson** and **Stuart** categories. Other notable entries included **Larry Fleming** with the **Jackson** pecan and **Tom Suter** with another strong showing in the **Elliott** category.

The competition also featured various submissions in the **Cape Fear** category, where the Abrahams again demonstrated their prowess by achieving multiple placements.

Natives Division Recognition

In the Natives Division, **Suzanne Yoder** and the Abrahams both claimed Grand Champion titles with their pecan entries. The Reserve Champion was awarded to **Stan Hruska** from Fort Bend County, highlighting the competitive spirit of this category.

Advancing to Regional Competitions

Several winners will advance to the regional competitions, including the **Caddo**, **Forkert**, and **Sioux** varieties, among others from both Fort Bend and Wharton Counties. The competition promises to be intense, with the following advancing to the Regional Commercial Division: **Caddo** (Brezina), **Cheyenne**, **Choctaw**, and several others from the Abrahams.

In the Classic & New Division, contenders such as **Cape Fear** (Sciba) and **Mahan** (Harrison) will represent their counties. The Natives Division will feature **Native** entries from both Yoder and the Abrahams.
