Ford is celebrating the legacy of off-road racing with the launch of a special edition of the 2025 Bronco, dedicated to the influential figure in motorsports, Bill Stroppe. This new model showcases a distinctive color scheme featuring red, white, and dark metallic blue, reminiscent of Stroppe’s early racing contributions. The Bronco has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity since its reintroduction, and this limited edition aims to honor its rich history.
Todd Zuercher, a noted Bronco historian and author, highlights Stroppe’s pivotal role in the vehicle’s racing legacy. Stroppe’s association with Ford began shortly after the Bronco’s debut in the 1966 model year. He quickly established a reputation in desert racing, leading the Bronco to success in iconic events like the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. “He got involved immediately with Ford, and the victories started very quickly with him and his team,” Zuercher noted.
The 2025 Stroppe Edition marks a revival of the tribute model, following the original Baja Bronco which was available from 1971 to 1975. Customers could order these vehicles directly from Ford, which were then sent to Stroppe and Associates for further modifications. Today, restored Baja Broncos command prices exceeding six figures, showcasing their enduring appeal. “In the past eight or 10 years, they’ve really gone into the stratosphere in terms of pricing,” Zuercher explained.
This new edition not only carries a heritage look but is also equipped with the necessary hardware for off-road adventures. It offers a comfortable driving experience on city streets, ensuring that drivers will attract attention wherever they go. The base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for this model starts at $77,530, reflecting its premium features and limited availability.
Highlighting the significance of heritage in the automotive industry, Zuercher pointed out that Ford is not alone in leveraging its history. For instance, when Toyota reintroduced the Land Cruiser last year, it named the base model “1958” and incorporated design elements reminiscent of the original model. Similarly, Jeep continually draws on its past, exemplified by the limited edition 2025 Wrangler Willys ’41, which pays tribute to the iconic Jeeps of World War Two.
In an era where SUVs are commonplace, the new tri-colored Stroppe Edition Bronco stands out, embodying a unique blend of heritage and modern capability. Its distinct design not only honors a racing legend but also enhances its appeal to enthusiasts and collectors alike. As Ford continues to embrace its past while innovating for the future, the Bronco remains a symbol of adventure and resilience in the automotive landscape.
