A significant fire at an apartment complex in Eagle Mountain resulted in one tenant suffering injuries and several law enforcement officers treated for smoke inhalation. The incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on March 5, 2024, prompting a rapid response from the Unified Fire Authority and the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found heavy flames engulfing the roof of the building located near 8050 N. Ridge Loop. According to a tweet from Unified Fire, deputies had successfully evacuated nearly all residents, except for one individual who was unable to leave the premises. Firefighters utilized a ground ladder to access the third-story window, where they discovered the tenant hiding in a bedroom closet in an attempt to escape the flames.
The injured tenant was subsequently transported to the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City for treatment. In addition, six deputies from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office received on-site medical attention for smoke inhalation.
Fire Spread and Response Efforts
The fire reportedly originated on the second-story exterior patio of building J before rapidly spreading throughout the structure. In a statement from Eagle Mountain City Hall, officials confirmed that firefighting efforts continued until around 6 a.m. as crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze.
Firefighters from six additional departments joined Unified Fire in battling the flames. The nature of the fire required a coordinated response involving multiple agencies, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
