Fairmont Police Chief Steve Shine emphasized the significance of the event, stating it fosters deeper connections between law enforcement and the community in a relaxed setting. “This is probably the biggest event that the city sponsors,” Shine remarked. “We want to show that we value the community and bring them together.”
The move to East Marion Park marks a strategic shift to enhance the event’s accessibility. Lieutenant Tyler Hall noted that families often struggle with parking in downtown Fairmont. “Moving it will not only showcase the park but allow families to spread out and enjoy themselves,” Hall added. The venue change will provide ample parking, more resource vendors, and a wider space for activities.
The event is expected to feature a broad array of law enforcement agencies and first responders, alongside numerous nonprofit organizations. Hall highlighted the importance of visibility for these groups, saying, “A lot of people in the community don’t know that these organizations are providing essential services.”
