In a significant shift for the hospitality industry, EVEN Hotels has introduced fitness equipment in every guest room across its locations, catering to health-conscious travelers. With a total of 26 properties in the United States, including four in New York City, this hotel chain is redefining the travel experience for those who prioritize their workout routines.
Guests at EVEN Hotels can enjoy personalized fitness zones in their rooms, allowing them to exercise without leaving their accommodation. “The in-room fitness zones are perfect for quick workouts on your own schedule, with no commute and no excuses,” stated John Beck, the Regional Operations Director of EVEN Hotel Times Square South. This innovative approach ensures that travelers do not have to compromise their fitness goals while on the road.
Each hotel provides a unique selection of equipment tailored to the location. At the Times Square South hotel, amenities include yoga mats, resistance bands, stability balls, core sliders, and a fitness wall featuring guided stretch and strength routines. Additionally, guests have access to on-demand fitness classes through the in-room televisions, making it easy to maintain an active lifestyle.
For those seeking more extensive workout options, EVEN Hotels also offers full-sized gyms equipped with machines like rowers and stationary bikes. Beck noted that many visitors choose EVEN specifically for fitness events, such as marathons and yoga retreats. “One of my favorite recent stories was a guest in town for the NYC Half Marathon who told us they chose EVEN specifically because they could stretch and foam roll right in their room pre-race and recover with smoothies and protein-packed meals afterward,” Beck explained.
This trend toward in-room fitness is gaining traction in the hospitality sector. Since its inception in 2014, EVEN Hotels has inspired other travel chains to adopt similar models. Several properties under the Hilton brand now feature “Five Feet to Fitness,” which offers a selection of exercise equipment and accessories in guest rooms, including a Gym Rax storage bay, guided exercise kiosks, a TRX system, and stationary bikes. Locations near New York City include the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station and the Hilton Garden Inn Islip.
For travelers unsure about how to utilize limited space for workouts, personal trainer Krista Stryker, known as “The 12 Minute Athlete,” has created routines specifically designed for small environments. She has shared a 12-minute workout that can be performed in tight quarters, which includes six exercises to be completed for 30 seconds each, with 10 seconds of rest in between.
The focus on fitness within hotel stays reflects a broader trend in the travel industry, where health and wellness are becoming essential considerations for many travelers. By prioritizing in-room fitness options, EVEN Hotels is not only enhancing the guest experience but also setting a new standard for what travelers can expect from their accommodations.
