Edward Farrell of Wyoming, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments. Born on July 5, 1934, to Edward and Emma Benish Farrell, Ed grew up in Wilkes-Barre, where he graduated from Coughlin High School. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph and John Farrell.

In 1953, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. His naval duties took him on extensive travels throughout the Mediterranean. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Deanna Innamorati, at Sandy Beach, Harvey’s Lake. The couple married in 1956 and were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary next May.

Their marriage was characterized by partnership and joy, filled with laughter and cherished memories. Ed and Deanna enjoyed dancing together, whether at the USO in Norfolk or while cruising. After his military service, Ed returned home and began a long career with Follmer Trucking – North Penn Transfer, where he worked for over 20 years.

Despite retiring due to an accident, Ed found his greatest joy not in his work but in his family. His happiest moments were spent cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sharing in their accomplishments and the everyday joys of family life.

Ed was also a passionate sports fan, particularly of football and wrestling. He took pride in refereeing these sports, giving back to his community while staying connected to the games he loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deanna, and their five children: Edward Jr. (Sharon Stample), Mark Farrell (Susan Pollard), Scott Farrell (Kathleen Rosie), Deanna Farrell Mennig (John Mennig), and Lari Ann Friedenberg (Scott Friedenberg). Ed was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren, including Rebecca Farrell Williams, Liz Farrell Foss, and Mark Farrell, and an adoring great-grandfather to six, including Sophia Farrell and Charlotte Williams.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ed’s life at Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc. Funeral Home on Sunday, October 5th, from 14:00 to 16:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 6th, at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, located at 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville. Following the service, Ed will be interred at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown.
