UPDATE: E-40’s annual toy drive at Shiloh Community Church in Vallejo, California, has just concluded, bringing joy to local children this holiday season. The event, held on December 16, 2023, featured a record-breaking distribution of over 300 gifts, including 100 bikes, 100 scooters, and 100 drones.
Although the renowned rapper was not present this year, his commitment to uplifting the community was palpable. Friends and local leaders stepped in to ensure the success of the event. “We have given out more than 50 garbage bags full of toys,” said Annette Vaughn, a key organizer. “It’s incredible to see the smiles on children’s faces.”
The toy drive has grown significantly, now in its third year, attracting over 2,000 attendees last year alone. This year’s festivities included live music, food vendors, and activities designed to engage families and bring the community together. Local artist Nef the Pharaoh contributed to the lively atmosphere.
Pastor Rance Vaughn reflected on E-40’s roots at the church, saying, “He was always very full of life here. This event means a lot to him.” The rapper’s dedication to helping families who struggle to provide gifts for their children resonates throughout the community.
The Vallejo Project and city officials, including Vallejo City Councilmember Helen Marie-Gordon, lent their support to amplify the impact of the event. With eight food vendors and a variety of entertainment, the toy drive has transformed into a celebration of community spirit.
Annette Vaughn noted the extensive preparation that goes into the event, stating, “We’ve been shopping for this for the last two weeks, and it’s all worth it when you see the joy it brings.” E-40’s love for children and desire to give back remains at the heart of this annual tradition.
As the event concludes, organizers express gratitude for the community’s support and the significant contributions that made this year’s toy drive a resounding success. “Job accomplished,” Pastor Vaughn said, reflecting on the day.
E-40’s commitment to his hometown and the happiness of the children shines bright as the holiday season approaches. The community eagerly anticipates next year’s event, which promises to be even more impactful.
