Delaware State Police are currently investigating a tragic motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old rider in Wilmington. The incident took place on August 10, 2025, at approximately 16:30 local time, involving a Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle.
The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Barley Mill Road when the rider entered the off-ramp leading eastbound to Kennett Pike. For reasons that remain unclear, the rider failed to negotiate the curve, subsequently striking a guardrail on the left side of the ramp. This collision caused the rider, identified as Zack Napolitano from Wilmington, to be ejected from the vehicle.
After the crash, Napolitano was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, on August 24, 2025, he succumbed to those injuries. The roadway was closed for about three hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted an investigation and cleared the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is still active. Authorities are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that might assist their inquiries.
