In an endearing reflection on their marriage, actors Dave Franco and Alison Brie recently recounted their intimate wedding ceremony held in March 2017. The couple, known for their collaboration in the upcoming horror film “Together,” shared personal anecdotes about their union while promoting their latest project, which premiered to acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival.

Franco and Brie, who have been partners both on and off-screen, chose the picturesque setting of Big Sur for their proposal. Franco revealed that he had not yet acquired an engagement ring but wanted to make the moment special. “I decided I was going to do it there,” he explained. The day before their trip, he purchased a placeholder ring from a local antique store, recalling a charming memory from their first meeting during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Brie described the proposal, saying, “He calls me out onto the patio. I turn around and Dave’s on one knee in a Zorro mask, holding a weird box with an old rock in it.” Franco elaborated, “I spent the entire proposal explaining why it was so sweet that I kept the mask.” After a moment of confusion, Brie accepted his proposal, and the mask now hangs in their kitchen alongside a photo from their initial encounter.

The couple opted for a simple ceremony at home, attended only by their immediate family. “We did the ceremony on the balcony, with just our parents and our siblings,” Brie noted. Following the intimate exchange of vows, they celebrated with a lively reception at Pizzeria Mozza, a popular restaurant in Los Angeles owned by chef Nancy Silverton. The couple hosted about 60 friends for what they described as a delightful gathering.

Despite the meticulous planning, an unexpected party crasher added a comedic twist to the event. Brie recalled, “One of your friends who had RSVPed without a plus one did bring a plus one.” Franco laughed, reflecting on their decision to provide weed pens as favors. “We were handing out weed pens, which just led to everyone bringing home multiple to-go pizzas,” he said, highlighting the relaxed atmosphere of their celebration.

Neither Franco nor Brie initially placed significant importance on a traditional wedding. Yet, they ultimately crafted a day that resonated with their personalities. “At the end of the day, we did it exactly how we wanted,” Franco stated. “In a cheesy way, that ended up being one of the best days of our lives.”

As they embark on new creative endeavors, both actors have recently completed separate scripts—Franco’s a thriller and Brie’s a horror comedy. They plan to produce each other’s projects, ensuring they remain creatively aligned without overwhelming their partnership.

“Together” is currently in theaters across the country, drawing audiences with its gripping narrative and unique marketing approach. As Franco and Brie navigate both their personal and professional lives, their story serves as a reminder of the joy found in genuine connections.
