URGENT UPDATE: Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing is facing an uncertain future after suffering a right lower leg contusion during Friday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. The injury occurred in the top of the sixth inning when Rushing fouled off a pitch from Orioles pitcher Kade Strowd, forcing him to exit the game.
Rushing was visibly in pain and was seen using crutches in the clubhouse following the Dodgers’ 2-1 loss. Manager Dave Roberts reported that Rushing took a solid hit to the inside of his right knee. “It got him pretty good,” Roberts stated. “X-rays fortunately were negative, but he’s going to get a CT scan tomorrow morning just to dig a little deeper on it.”
As of now, the Dodgers are treating Rushing as day-to-day, with no immediate return in sight. Starting catcher Will Smith is also sidelined due to a right hand contusion, leaving the Dodgers in a difficult position heading into their matchup on Saturday. Ben Rortvedt will step in as the catcher for the next game, and the team is expected to call up another catcher to fill the gap.
The Dodgers are feeling the impact of these injuries at a critical time in the season. With Rushing’s status uncertain, fans and team officials alike are hoping for good news following the CT scan. More updates will be provided as the situation develops.
Stay tuned for further information on Rushing’s condition and the Dodgers’ roster changes as they navigate these challenging circumstances.
