The hotel is situated on a 4.7-acre parcel of land north of the Stoney Creek Hotel. According to Nathan Pare, the city’s Planning and Community Development Director, initial groundwork, including foundation and underground utility installation, has been completed. The next phase involves framing, with the hotel expected to be fully operational by 2026.
The development follows a decision by city councilmembers in April 2023 to accept funding from the developer for building plan review services. The property is owned by Altira St. Joe Hotel LLC, a company that is part of a growing trend in St. Joseph’s hospitality sector.

The TownePlace Suites project is one of several significant hotel developments underway in St. Joseph. A nearby project on Frederick Avenue involves a $60 million investment for two large hotels and a new conference center, which is already under construction and will provide close to 250 new rooms.
