A confrontation in a hotel parking lot in Newark, Delaware, led to the arrest of a Connecticut woman after she allegedly pointed a rifle at three teenagers on the evening of December 5, 2023. The incident occurred around 20:00 at the Hilton located at 100 Continental Drive, where the juveniles were playing football when they were reportedly threatened.
According to the Delaware State Police, the juveniles fled the scene when a woman inside a paratransit van displayed what appeared to be a firearm in their direction. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The police located the van shortly afterward in a nearby lot. The woman, identified as Rachel Dinorscia, aged 50, was taken into custody without resistance. A search of her vehicle revealed a long rifle believed to be involved in the confrontation, in addition to a second rifle and two handguns.
Following her arrest, Dinorscia was transported to Troop 6, where she faced multiple charges. These include possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, three counts of aggravated menacing, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. After being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, she was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a secured bond of $23,500.
As the investigation continues, it is important to note that all suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This incident underscores ongoing concerns surrounding safety in public spaces, particularly involving firearms.
