Georgia Keenan, a beloved resident of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on July 23, 2025. Known for her compassion and dedication, she spent nearly three decades as a Certified Nursing Assistant, specializing in dementia care for senior citizens. Her contributions to the community have left a lasting impact on many lives.
Born in Bay City, Texas, Georgia lived in multiple states throughout her life, including Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Colorado, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. It was in Oregon that she met her late husband, James Keenan. The couple chose to move to Williamsburg after learning they were expecting a child, seeking the support of Georgia’s parents, Welton and Bobbie Bryant.
A Life Dedicated to Care and Community
Georgia’s professional journey included significant roles at Dominion Village, Patriot’s Colony, and Williamsburg Landing. Her work primarily focused on providing care for elderly individuals suffering from dementia, a calling she cherished deeply. Beyond her nursing career, Georgia also contributed her time to the American Red Cross and worked with Mary Kay.
Beyond her professional life, Georgia was an active member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she devoted many years teaching Kindergarten Sunday school. Her commitment to nurturing young minds was matched only by her love for reading, animals, and her unique sense of humor.
Georgia graduated from York High School in 1967, and her vibrant spirit continued to inspire those around her. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Keenan, and her husband, Benjamin Brummett; her brother, Gary Bryant; and her daughter’s Godmother, Mary Overby.
Final Farewell and Legacy
A viewing for Georgia Keenan will take place at Bucktrout of Williamsburg on August 1, 2025, from 18:00 to 20:00. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Red Cross or the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
