Early Life and Military Service
Born on August 2, 1935, in Mar Lin, Stanley was the son of the late Stanislaus and Ella (Komorosky) Petchulis. He graduated from Pottsville High School and served for six years in the US Army, where he was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
On June 18, 1961, Stanley married his wife, June Romain Petchulis. Together, they celebrated 64 years of marriage this summer, building a life that revolved around family and community. They owned and operated the Mar Lin Markets, a local business that became a staple in the area.
Community Involvement and Personal Interests
Stanley was actively engaged in various community organizations. He was a member of the Blue Mountain K Lions Club, served as a director of Union Saving & Loan in Minersville, and was a member of the Mar Lin American Legion. His commitment to public service extended to his role as a supervisor for Norwegian Township and his involvement with the SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mount Carmel.
Stanley had a profound love for baseball, a passion that was evident in his extensive collection of baseball cards and his enjoyment of attending games. He often fondly reminisced about legendary players, particularly his favorite, Ted Williams. Outside of his professional life, Stanley cherished moments spent with his grandchildren, sharing laughs, enjoying morning coffee, and watching boats glide by from his bay window in Ocean City, Maryland.
He is survived by his wife, June, and their seven children: Ian Albert Petchulis and fiancée Kristen Kufrovich, Stacey Petchulis Bosack and husband Thomas, Stephen Petchulis and wife Dorothy, Michael Miller and wife Stephanie, Stanley Petchulis III and wife Terri, Marcella and husband Ralph, and Bradley Petchulis and wife Cindy.
