MaryEllen Audi, known affectionately as Hudanick, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. She was the last surviving sibling of the large Hudanick Hergy family from Watkins Street in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. Her infectious smile and kind personality left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Born in March 1939, MaryEllen graduated from Swoyersville High School in 1957. She created fond memories during her early years working at JS Raub, but her life took a significant turn when she met her husband, George Junie Audi, shortly after his discharge from the Navy following the Korean War. Together, they raised three children: Pamela Dommes, George Audi, and Tammy Audi.

The couple began their life together in Kingston before moving to Jay Street in Swoyersville, where they built a home filled with cherished moments over nearly five decades. MaryEllen dedicated herself to her family, nurturing her children with love and care. She took great joy in cooking, baking, and creating a warm atmosphere by redecorating their home with new furnishings.

MaryEllen was known for her strong work ethic, often taking on extra jobs to support her family. She was particularly proud of her work cleaning homes, ensuring that her clients felt proud of their living spaces. Visitors to her home quickly learned the importance of removing their shoes at the door, a testament to her commitment to cleanliness.

Her social life was vibrant, filled with activities such as playing bingo with her sisters and poker during family gatherings. One of her favorite pastimes was enjoying a slot machine at the casino, often with a hazelnut coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts in hand. A devout individual, her church, her faith, and her Bible played significant roles in her life, providing her with strength and comfort.

MaryEllen is survived by five grandchildren: Gabriella Audi, Dylan Audi, Jake Miscavage, Maximillian Dommes, and Nick Miscavage. After the passing of her husband of 52 years, she spent her final years at Serenity Care in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and most recently at 3rd Avenue Health and Rehab in Kingston, where she was cherished by residents and staff alike.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral or interment services. Those wishing to honor MaryEllen’s memory can make contributions to Candys Place in Forty Fort, a free wellness center that provides support to cancer patients and their caregivers through various services, including counseling and reflexology. This center held special significance for MaryEllen, particularly as it had been invaluable to her daughter, Pam, who lost her battle with cancer last year.

MaryEllen’s final arrangements were entrusted to Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services located at 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre. Her family and the community will remember her for her unwavering spirit and the love she shared with those around her.
