Karen P. Justus, aged 78, passed away on September 17, 2025, in Maryland. Originally from Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon and Margaret Masters Lawrence. Justus graduated from Newport Township High School in 1964 and spent the last two years of her life in Aberdeen, Maryland, close to her daughter and grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Karen was actively involved in her community and church. A member of the Dallas United Methodist Church, she contributed as a Sunday School teacher and participated in the Tuesday Quilting group as well as the Sister’s Circle. Her dedication extended to her high school, where she maintained connections with fellow alumni from her graduating class of 1964.
During her professional career, Justus worked as a cashier for Weis Markets and held positions at Stopay Candies, the VA Credit Union, and various banking institutions. Known for her warmth and community spirit, she was deeply respected by those who knew her.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Justus, who passed away in 1999, as well as her brother, Sheldon Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Justus, and her husband, Dan Rusin, of Aberdeen, Maryland; her son, Kristopher Justus, and his wife, Kelly Justus, of Lovettsville, Virginia; her sister, Pamela Paprota, and her husband, John, of Hanover Township; her sister-in-law, Debbie Lawrence, of Hartford, Connecticut; her brothers-in-law, Leonard Justus and his wife, Karen, as well as Doug Justus. She leaves behind four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Karen P. Justus will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pennsylvania. Friends and family are invited to call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
