Kathy Galardi, a cherished member of the Ashley, Pennsylvania community, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 73. Known for her vibrant spirit and dedication to others, Kathy’s legacy will continue through the lives she touched and the community she enriched.

Born on October 22, 1952, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Kathy lived her life with an infectious enthusiasm that inspired those around her. Her commitment to kindness was evident in her daily interactions, whether during evening walks through her neighborhood or while engaging with local businesses. Kathy dedicated over two decades of her life to supporting individuals with special needs, particularly through her work with the Bellas family.

In 1994, she began volunteering for Jared Bellas, who later became her legal ward in 2011. Kathy’s influence went beyond mere caregiving; she formed deep friendships and connections that transformed her working relationship into one of genuine camaraderie. This dedication was highlighted by her training at The Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia, which equipped her with the skills to better serve the needs of those around her.

Kathy faced significant personal challenges, including a diagnosis of stage three bladder cancer in 1999. After enduring two and a half years of chemotherapy, she was declared cancer-free in 2007. Despite her health struggles, she remained committed to her role as a caregiver, demonstrating resilience and strength throughout her life.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Joseph Booker Galardi Jr., and their son, Jeffrey Galardi, along with his partner, Alessa McHugh. She leaves behind a large family network, including her brother, Shea Glennon, and several sisters, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whom she considered family.

Her family recalls the joy of Thanksgiving celebrations in New York City, where they would explore attractions from the High Line to Harlem, enjoy meals at Lillies, and attend Broadway shows. These experiences were a testament to her belief that each day was a gift, meant to be filled with wonder and gratitude.

Kathy’s funeral arrangements are set for December 1, 2025, with family receiving condolences from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the George A. Strish, Inc. Funeral Home, located at 105 North Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on December 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Leo the Great Church, with officiating by Rev. Vincent Dang. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathy’s memory to the St. Leo the Great Food Pantry, reflecting her lifelong commitment to caring for others. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness will be missed, but her impact on the community will endure.
