Thomas Michael Ridpath, a cherished husband, father, and community leader, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the age of 81. Ridpath’s life was characterized by unwavering dedication to his family, professional pursuits, and community service.

A Life of Service and Dedication

Born on March 28, 1944, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Ridpath grew up in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Ft. Atkinson High School. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Kansas University-Lawrence. During his time at university, he was an active member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

After completing his studies, Ridpath moved to Washington D.C., where he began his professional journey at NASA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He later enjoyed a successful career as an agent with State Farm Insurance, where he was renowned for his integrity and dedication to his clients.

Community Engagement and Personal Passions

Ridpath’s commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life. He dedicated his weekends to serving in the Army National Guard, embodying the values of service and sacrifice. His involvement in the community also included active participation in the Burke Rotary and the local Methodist Church, where he freely shared his time and talents.

A man with a zest for life, Ridpath had a wide range of interests. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed the camaraderie found in bowling and golf. Ridpath was also passionate about sports, coaching youth basketball and inspiring young athletes through his encouraging guidance. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to engage in real estate investing, showcasing his diverse pursuits.

Ridpath is survived by his devoted wife, Sharron Ridpath; his loving sons, Patrick Ridpath (Elizabeth) and Christopher Ridpath (Brandy); and his cherished grandchildren, including three granddaughters and one grandson. He is also remembered fondly by his sister-in-law, Beth Ridpath, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of Thomas Michael Ridpath will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory. Ridpath will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire his family and friends.
