The community of Duanesburg, New York, is mourning the passing of Sandra Jean DeVos Huber, who died on November 10, 2025, at the age of 80. A beloved wife and mother, she dedicated her life to family, education, and community service. Born on November 3, 1945, in Albany, New York, to William and Sophia DeVos, Sandy was an advocate for literacy and a passionate volunteer.

Sandy graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968, where her love for reading and communication flourished. In the same year, she met Russell Huber, and they married in 1976. Together, they raised two sons, William Huber of Albany and Carl Huber of Penfield, New York.

Throughout her life, Sandy was actively involved in the Duanesburg Central School District, participating in reading programs and the Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSO). She served as a Boy Scout den mother, further demonstrating her commitment to her children’s education and community engagement. Her volunteer efforts extended to the public broadcasting sector, where she participated in PBS fundraising auctions and dedicated time to reading for the print disabled through the WMHT RISE program.

Sandy’s professional journey included several years in the Schenectady County Public Library system, where she continued to promote literacy and a love for books. Beyond her professional and volunteer commitments, she enjoyed a well-rounded life filled with hobbies such as creating stained glass art, indulging in mystery novels, and embarking on road trips with her family.

Sandy is predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Agans and William DeVos, and is survived by her brother Kenneth DeVos. She leaves behind her husband, Russ, her two sons and daughter-in-law, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory.
