Born on February 19, 1939, in Middletown, David was the son of the late Norman and Okla (Climie) Daniels. He furthered his education with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University.

David had a distinguished career in athletics, culminating in his role as a baseball coach and Athletic Director for the University of Connecticut Hartford Division, a position he held until his retirement in 1998. David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeanne Daniels, along with their children: Tracey Stankiewicz and her husband Tom, Scott Daniels and his wife Catherine, Tammy Arthurs and her husband John, Heather Rounbehler, Stephen Clapp and his wife Rebecca, and Tracey Bonanni and her husband Craig. He was a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His sister, Diane Mahoney, and her husband John also survive him.
