Emma Elizabeth Nevin, affectionately known as Betty, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on October 8, 2025, in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Surrounded by her devoted family, she left behind a legacy of love and community engagement that will be remembered by many.

Born in Nanticoke, Betty was the daughter of the late William Kresge and Erma (Keiner) Kresge Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clyde Nevin, who she was married to for 35 years until his passing in 1982. The couple’s bond was a foundation for their family, which includes their children: William, Elizabeth (married to James), and Raymond (married to Cheryl), as well as her cherished granddaughter, Sarah.

Throughout her life, Betty was an active member of the community. She was deeply involved with St. Pauls Lutheran Church, where she cultivated lasting friendships and participated in various ministries. Her faith and commitment to service were evident in her 65-year membership with the Order of Eastern Star, specifically with Wyoming Chapter #1, where she held several prominent roles, including Worthy Matron and District Deputy Grand Matron.

Betty’s professional life included many years at Eberhard Faber, a well-known manufacturer. After retiring, she devoted her time to volunteering at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Allied Services. Her creative talents shone through her skills as a talented seamstress and crafter, adding beauty and warmth to the lives of those around her.

Her passing has left a profound impact on her family and the community, as many remember her vibrant spirit and unwavering support. Memorial contributions in Betty’s name can be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, located at 316 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA 18707.
