Mr. Murphy was married to Faith S. Murphy for an impressive 52 years. Together, they raised two children, Kevin P. Murphy Jr. and Lauren R. Murphy, and welcomed a beloved grandson, Jayden S. Andrews. He also leaves behind a brother, Robert E. Murphy Jr.. His passing is felt deeply by all who knew him.
A Life Well Lived
Born in New Orleans, Mr. Murphy was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School. He devoted over 40 years of his life to marine construction, working as a heavy equipment operator—a role that showcased his skill and dedication. He lived in Picayune for the past 30 years, where he became known for his warm spirit and community involvement.
As a passionate fan of the New Orleans Saints, Mr. Murphy celebrated the team’s victory in Super Bowl 44, a moment that brought him immense joy. His enthusiasm for the sport was a reflection of his larger-than-life personality, which endeared him to many.
Memorial Service and Tributes
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in his honor on October 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 1421 Goodyear Blvd. in Picayune. The community is encouraged to come together to remember Mr. Murphy and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Murphy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Wounded Warrior Project, or The Tunnel to Towers Foundation. These contributions reflect his caring nature and commitment to helping others.
