James D. Styer, an influential member of the Exeter Township community, passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 80. He was the husband of the late Cynthia G. Styer, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2018. Styer’s contributions to both his family and the local electrical sales industry made him a well-respected figure in the region.

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Styer was the son of John L. Styer and Fern M. Styer. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1963 before attending Penn State University. His commitment to service was evident when he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country.

Styer had a long and successful career in the electrical sales industry, beginning at Progress Electric Supply and later retiring from Colonial Electric Supply. His extensive experience and dedication earned him a solid reputation among colleagues and clients alike.

His family includes his children, Andrew J. Styer, who is engaged to Kimberly Moyer, and Paula Styer, who is married to Kelly Eghujovbo. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Evan Styer, Luke Styer, Nathan Styer, Aiden Tobias, and Henry Moyer-Daniels. Styer’s legacy continues through his siblings, including brothers John and Joel Styer, as well as brothers-in-law Paul “Kenny” Kline and Leonard Readinger. He is remembered fondly by his friend and travel companion, Roxann Frain, and his cherished cat, “B.C.”

Memorial Services Scheduled

Visitation for family and friends will take place on January 12, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a service beginning at 11:00 AM. The services will be held at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA. Following the service, interment will occur at Forest Hills Memorial Park, situated at 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA.
