The InterFaith Works Leadership Award Dinner, held on March 12, 2024, celebrated community leaders who are making significant contributions to Central New York. Coordinated by The Post-Standard/Syracuse.com and InterFaith Works of CNY, the event recognized individuals from diverse backgrounds who are leaving lasting legacies in their communities.

This year’s dinner showcased a range of honorees, highlighting that impactful contributions can come from anyone, regardless of age, gender, or expertise. Jennie Prouty, the Community Engagement Manager for InterFaith Works, emphasized the importance of community involvement. With a decade of experience in community service and degrees in Business Administration and Psychology, along with a master’s degree in theology focusing on the Abrahamic Religions, Prouty is dedicated to fostering connections among diverse groups.

Celebrating Community Contributions

The event served not only as a recognition of achievements but also as a reminder that individuals can start making a difference at any time in their lives. “What is one act you can do today that might leave an impact on someone else that is of no self-gain to yourself?” Prouty asked attendees, prompting reflections on personal responsibility and community service.

Honorees shared their stories and experiences, illustrating how small actions can lead to significant change. This gathering reinforced the notion that legacy is built over time through consistent efforts to uplift others. The evening was filled with inspiring speeches, personal anecdotes, and the collective commitment to enhancing the community.

Building a Legacy Together

As the largest annual event for InterFaith Works, the Leadership Award Dinner is a highlight for many in the Central New York region. It serves as a platform for encouraging dialogue and collaboration among various faiths and backgrounds. The atmosphere was one of excitement and hope, showcasing how unity can drive progress.

The evening concluded with a call to action for all attendees to consider their roles within the community. By fostering a culture of giving and support, each individual can contribute to a legacy that benefits everyone. InterFaith Works continues to lead by example, demonstrating that it is indeed never too late—or too early—to start making a positive impact.
