The 22nd Community Christmas Dinner successfully provided 603 free meals on December 21, 2024, at Victory Lutheran Church in Jamestown. This annual event, coordinated by Kris Meidinger, aimed to bring the community together during the holiday season. The meal included traditional favorites such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, ham, turkey, and various sides.

Of the total meals served, 296 were delivered or taken out by attendees, while 307 were enjoyed on-site at the church. This year’s numbers reflect a slight decrease from the 650 meals served in 2023. Despite the drop, the event remained a significant source of support for those in need within the community.

Kris Meidinger noted the importance of the event, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to a warm meal during the holidays.” The church’s efforts not only provided nourishment but also fostered a sense of togetherness among attendees.

Following the dinner, leftover prepared food will be donated to Daily Bread – Jamestown, a local organization that supports individuals facing food insecurity. Additionally, any unused food packages will be given to a nearby food pantry, ensuring that the community continues to benefit from the generosity of the event.

This year’s Community Christmas Dinner was free for all, highlighting the spirit of giving that defines the holiday season. The event has become a cherished tradition in Jamestown, reflecting the collaborative efforts of community members and organizations dedicated to helping those in need.

As the holiday season progresses, events like this remind residents of the power of community and the importance of coming together for a common cause. The commitment of volunteers and organizers plays a crucial role in making such gatherings possible, and the impact is felt widely across the community.
