The Colquitt County softball team secured a 5-2 victory against Lee County on October 10, 2025, as they prepare for the Class 6A playoffs. The win at Packer Park marks the Lady Packers’ second consecutive victory, bringing their season record to 15-15. The team is set to travel to Gwinnett County for a first-round series against Buford, ranked No. 2 nationally by MaxPreps, with the doubleheader scheduled for 16:30 on Monday.

This recent success is significant not only for the Lady Packers but also as a redemption for earlier losses. They previously fell to Cook on August 12, losing 3-1, but managed to avenge that defeat with a narrow 10-9 win earlier this week. The victory over Lee County was particularly poignant, as it avenged a 12-5 loss from August 5. The game showcased standout performances from each of the four seniors, possibly in their final appearances at Lady Packer Field.

In the circle, pitchers Peyton Arrington and Kamry Paulk combined their efforts to limit Lee County to just five hits and two runs, striking out four batters. Catcher Lanie Burley was instrumental at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, while center fielder Rheygan Harrell contributed an RBI single and made a critical defensive play, throwing out a runner at the plate to end the fifth inning with the Packers leading by just one run.

Lee County, the No. 4 team from Region 2-5A, struck first in the game. In the third inning, Christina Benton led off with a single, later scoring on a double by Raegan Watkins. Following that, Makinzie Davis doubled in Watkins, giving the Lady Trojans a brief 2-0 lead. However, Arrington and Paulk quickly stifled any further scoring from Lee County.

The Lady Packers responded in the bottom of the third inning, assembling a rally that featured four singles, two walks, and an error, resulting in three runs. RBIs in that inning came from Paulk, Harrell, and Allie Eure.

In the sixth inning, the momentum continued for Colquitt. Caroline Eidson and Gracie McKellar opened with walks, allowing Eidson to score on a double steal and McKellar to cross home plate after a passed ball. Paulk closed out the game effectively, retiring the Lady Trojans in order during the seventh inning.

Arrington claimed the win, pitching four innings and giving up both runs while striking out four batters. Paulk finished the game with three shutout innings, needing only 27 pitches to secure the victory. In addition to Burley’s impressive performance, McKellar contributed a double, alongside singles from Arrington, Paulk, Harrell, and Eure.

Looking ahead, other notable matchups in the Class 6A playoffs include Region 1 champion Tift County hosting Collins Hill and Region runner-up Richmond Hill facing Mill Creek. The playoffs will culminate in the Class 6A state tournament, scheduled from October 29 to November 1 in Columbus, where the top eight teams will compete for the championship title.
