BREAKING: Clintondale Community Schools has just appointed two new district administrators, marking a significant leadership shift. The school board unanimously approved the selections during a meeting on January 12, 2024, with immediate effect.

Shauna Hemler has been named the new Chief Academic Officer, succeeding Heather Halpin, who retired in December. Hemler brings over 20 years of experience within the district, previously serving as the principal of McGlinnen Elementary School. Superintendent Kenneth Janczarek praised her as an “exceptional instructional leader” who deeply understands the needs of students, staff, and the community.

Dr. Hemler will continue her role as principal until a successor is appointed. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oakland University, a Master’s in Education from Saginaw Valley State University, and a Doctorate in Executive Leadership from the University of Charleston.

In another critical move, Kevin Taratuta has been confirmed as the new Chief Financial Officer. Taratuta previously held the position of Chief Financial and Operations Officer at Birmingham Public Schools and has extensive experience in school finance. Superintendent Janczarek highlighted Taratuta’s comprehensive understanding of school finance, essential for supporting the district’s business operations.

Taratuta earned a Master of Accountancy from Oakland University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Michigan State University. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds the Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification.

The appointments are anticipated to enhance leadership effectiveness and academic performance within the district. As Clintondale Community Schools moves forward with these changes, community members and stakeholders are encouraged to support the new leadership team.
