BREAKING: Channing Tatum has expressed deep regret over missing the chance to portray The Beast in a proposed non-Disney adaptation of Beauty & the Beast directed by acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, Tatum revealed that turning down the role remains “one of the biggest mistakes of my career.”

Tatum, who has successfully navigated diverse roles in his career, was approached for the project around the early 2010s, a time when he was overwhelmed with personal and professional commitments. He noted that his then-wife, Jenna Dewan, had just given birth to their daughter, making it a challenging moment for him to take on such a significant role.

“I was already engaged in a movie that was absolutely killing me, and the script wasn’t totally there yet. I was just in a place in my head that I was like, ‘I don’t think I can do this right now,’” Tatum explained. The film, which would have also starred Emma Watson as Belle, was meant to be a creative venture for del Toro, known for his visionary works like Pan’s Labyrinth and the upcoming Frankenstein, set to hit Netflix in November.

The project was initially connected to Warner Bros. but fell through in 2014, leaving fans and Tatum himself wondering what could have been. “He [del Toro] has a billion things he wants to do. He’s such a creator. I’ll probably never forgive myself on that one, but I hope we get to work together one day,” Tatum added, highlighting his admiration for del Toro’s artistry.

As Tatum remains busy with current projects like Avengers: Doomsday, Secret Wars, and the thriller Josephine, fans are eager to see if the stars will align for him and del Toro to collaborate in the future. The anticipation surrounding Tatum’s next moves is palpable, and with his expressed desire to team up with del Toro, the entertainment world is watching closely.

Keep an eye on this developing story, as both Tatum and del Toro continue to shape their careers in the film industry. Will they finally create the cinematic magic that fans have longed for? Stay tuned for updates.
