URGENT UPDATE: A Winter Storm Advisory has been issued for numerous counties across central North Carolina as a significant snowstorm is predicted to impact the area. In response, multiple school districts have announced closures and schedule adjustments for Monday, February 5, 2024.

The Wake County Public School System has confirmed that all schools will be closed for students on Monday. No make-up days will be necessary, as all calendars will utilize banked time. Additionally, all athletic and extracurricular events scheduled for that day have been canceled.

Similarly, Durham Public Schools will shut down all facilities for students and staff, canceling all district activities. Essential personnel are instructed to report as directed by their supervisors.

Other districts taking precautionary measures include:

Orange County Schools: Closed for students and staff.
Johnston County Public Schools: Closed on Monday.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools: Closed, with staff offered an optional remote workday.
Wilson County Schools: Closed for students and staff, with all after-school activities canceled.
Warren County Schools: Closed for students, remote day for staff.
Wayne County Schools: Dismissing all schools two hours early, with after-school programs and activities canceled.
