In October 2025, in observance of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, CENTEGIX announced a partnership with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation (SCAF). This collaboration aims to enhance lifesaving preparedness in schools and workplaces across the United States. With the objective of ensuring rapid assistance during cardiac emergencies, both organizations emphasize the critical importance of immediate response, stating that every second counts in saving lives.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of unexpected death, contributing to over 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests annually in the U.S. Survival rates can decline by 7–10% for each minute that passes without cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation. The effects of SCA are particularly felt in educational settings. In a notable incident in Florida, a middle school student’s life was saved when staff utilized the CrisisAlert system to quickly access an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) after she collapsed during class.
Enhancing Lifesaving Readiness
Both CENTEGIX and SCAF are committed to reducing response times and improving survival rates. The CENTEGIX Safety Platform is integral to this effort, providing emergency alerts that pinpoint the crisis’s location on a campus map. This technology displays the nearest AEDs, First Aid tools, and essential emergency medical services (EMS) access points, enabling responders to locate life-saving resources swiftly.
Brent Cobb, CEO of CENTEGIX, highlighted the importance of prompt action, stating, “Medical emergencies happen every day, and last year nearly 10% of all CrisisAlert activations were for medical crises—that’s close to 25,000 times help reached someone in need more quickly. In many of those cases, that speed likely made the difference in the outcome, because when seconds matter, getting responders there faster saves lives.”
Gina Peattie, Executive Director of SCAF, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that immediate CPR and AED use can significantly increase survival rates. “This partnership expands awareness and reinforces the message that survival depends on getting help right away,” she remarked.
Community Impact and Future Goals
The partnership’s goal is to equip communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to respond effectively to SCA incidents. As part of their initiative, both organizations are focused on raising public awareness about the signs of cardiac arrest and the importance of training in CPR and AED usage.
Through educational campaigns and access to vital resources, CENTEGIX and SCAF aim to foster a culture of preparedness, significantly impacting survival outcomes in emergencies. Their collaboration serves as a reminder that in cardiac emergencies, every second truly does matter.
