A local beauty salon, Curl Up and Dye, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special open day event on January 30, 2026. Owner Shannon Donnelly established the salon on Lombard Street in Newark when she was just 18 years old. Since its opening in 2016, the business has experienced significant growth, evolving from a small operation with one employee to a thriving salon with six staff members.

In 2023, Curl Up and Dye moved to larger premises on Portland Street, allowing the business to expand its offerings. In addition to hairdressing services, the salon now provides a range of beauty treatments, including sunbeds and pamper parties, positioning itself as a “one-stop shop” for clients.

Donnelly expressed her pride in the salon’s resilience, particularly during the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. “I’m so proud because we made it through the Covid-19 pandemic whereas other businesses sadly didn’t,” she said. “Our loyal customers have stuck with us, and now we’re better than ever.”

To commemorate this milestone, Curl Up and Dye will host an open day on January 30, inviting guests to enjoy special offers during business hours from 09:00 to 17:00. The event aims to thank customers for their support over the past decade and showcase the salon’s expanded services.

As Curl Up and Dye looks to the future, Donnelly emphasized her ambition for continued growth. “We just want to keep building on what we’ve already achieved,” she stated. With a decade of success behind her, Donnelly is clearly optimistic about what lies ahead for her salon.
