Cardi B has released her new single, “Imaginary Playerz,” which is now available on streaming platforms. This track comes as anticipation builds for her upcoming sophomore album, titled Am I the Drama?, set to debut next month. The single hit the airwaves on August 15, 2023, following her previous release, “Outside.”

“Imaginary Playerz” features a sample from Jay-Z’s iconic track, “Imaginary Players,” from his 1997 album In My Lifetime, Vol. 1. Earlier this week, Cardi shared that she received a personal nod of approval from Jay-Z himself. In a session on X Spaces, she expressed her excitement, stating, “If he didn’t approve it, I probably wouldn’t even feel a certain type of way neither, because it’s like, ‘OK, maybe I just had to come a little bit harder.’ But I’m glad that I came hard and he loved it.”

The announcement of the single was made on August 11, accompanied by luxurious cover art showcasing Cardi in a white fur coat, seated on the hood of a matching Rolls-Royce. In her Instagram post, she teased, “Just a lil taste of the drama. IMAGINARY PLAYERZ THIS FRIDAY.”

As the release date for her album approaches, fans are eager to know if Cardi will unveil another single before Am I the Drama? drops. The lead single, “Outside,” made an impressive debut at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped both the Rhythmic Airplay and Rap Airplay charts.

Cardi’s new album will feature a total of 23 tracks, including previously released hits such as “Up” and “WAP.” The Grammy-winning artist has addressed her decision to include these popular songs, defending their presence on the album. In June, she stated on X, “This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this. WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home.”

As fans eagerly await Cardi B’s latest offering, “Imaginary Playerz” is now available for streaming. The track promises to add to her dynamic catalog as she continues to solidify her place in the music industry.
