UPDATE: A party bus in Cape Cod was completely engulfed in flames on Saturday afternoon, but thankfully, no injuries were reported. Fire crews rushed to the scene around noon, where the driver had successfully evacuated all passengers before firefighters arrived.

According to the Wellfleet Fire Department, the bus was found “fully engulfed in flames,” with the fire dangerously close to spreading to a nearby home. Firefighters acted quickly, extinguishing the flames and preventing further property damage. One individual was evaluated on-site but did not require hospitalization.

Images released by the fire department reveal the bus was part of the Funk Bus fleet, a local party bus company. The owner, Raphael Richter, confirmed that the incident was due to an engine fire. He commended the driver for their quick response, stating, “We will work to determine the root cause as our Funk Bus fleet is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure its safe operation.”

Richter noted that the bus is considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with preliminary information suggesting it was accidental in nature, as reported in an official press release.

Fire departments from Eastham and Orleans assisted in the firefighting efforts, while Wellfleet lifeguards helped evacuate residents from the nearby home, showcasing a community effort in the face of danger.

This incident underscores the importance of safety protocols and rapid response in emergency situations. As the investigation continues, the Funk Bus company is taking additional measures to ensure all vehicles meet stringent safety standards. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
