BREAKING: The Bethel High girls tennis team surged to an impressive 6-1 victory against St. Mary’s on Tuesday, showcasing resilience despite the blistering heat. This decisive win solidifies their momentum as they prepare for their next match on Thursday against Pinole Valley.
In a standout performance, No. 2 singles player Shiloh Bradley made a remarkable comeback, winning her match 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. Teammate Rovily Zablero also rallied back from a set down to secure a victory at No. 3 singles, finishing with a score of 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. Additionally, No. 4 singles player Vy Phan clinched a victory by forfeit, contributing to the team’s overall triumph.
The doubles teams were on fire, with Betzayda Gonzalez and Jamie Conception dominating their match 6-1, 6-0. Other doubles pairings, including Alexis Le and Jezelle Israel as well as Riley Regadio and A’Nya Britt, also secured wins, rounding out a successful day for Bethel.
Meanwhile, in girls volleyball, American Canyon swept Napa 3-0, improving their league record to 3-3 and overall to 10-5. Key players included Joelle Denina with four aces and Keilanai Demas contributing three aces and 18 assists.
In a thrilling five-set showdown, Benicia edged out Berean Christian with a final score of 3-2. The match highlighted the talents of Gabby Muller and Halo Phelps, each delivering 14 kills and significant defensive efforts. Muller also shone with eight aces and 18 digs, while Zoe Cohen amassed 25 digs for Benicia.
On the soccer field, the Solano College women’s team faced a tough defeat against Modesto, losing 0-7. A standout performance from Shaylan Roy-Williams, who scored a hat trick, left Solano struggling after a challenging first half.
