Guy N. Solano, a well-known local businessman and accomplished athlete, passed away at his home on December 13, 2025. He was 51 years old. Born on April 20, 1974, in Pittston, he was the son of the late Nicholas “Nicky” Solano and Marsha (Maleski) Knoll.

A graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1992, Guy furthered his education at Luzerne County Community College. He was the owner and operator of the GNS Tobacco Stores, with locations in Moscow and Duryea, where he built a reputation for quality service and community engagement.

Athletic Pursuits and Community Impact

Guy was not only a successful businessman but also a talented athlete. He achieved recognition as a 1994 Golden Gloves amateur boxing champion. His passion for boxing paved the way for his involvement in Mixed Martial Arts, where he continued to compete and excel. Throughout his life, Guy dedicated significant time to training and mentoring young athletes in mixed martial arts, fostering a love for the sport in the next generation.

Beyond athletics, music played a significant role in Guy’s life. He was an enthusiastic drummer, performing with various local bands and contributing to the vibrant music scene in the area.

Guy’s vibrant personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He is survived by his children, Nico Solano and Ariana Solano, along with her fiancé, Jake Wysocki, all from Pittston. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Amelia Wysocki, and his fiancé, Alicia Bruneio. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Nicholas Solano Jr., stepbrother Jason Llewellyn, and stepmother Grace (Walsh) Solano.

Funeral Arrangements

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for January 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church (Corpus Christi Parish), located at 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The service will be officiated by Monsignor John J. Sempa. Friends and family are invited to call for visitation on the morning of the service from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
