Diana Lynn McLaughlin, a cherished mother, friend, and community member, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 70 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Her two sons, Brad and Eric McLaughlin, announced her passing with great sadness. Diana’s life was marked by deep connections to family and a profound love for the outdoors.
Born as Diana Lynn McCormick, she was the youngest daughter of Graham and Carrie McCormick. Diana grew up in the scenic mountains of West Virginia, where she developed a passion for nature, often exploring the mountains and streams that surrounded her childhood home. Her adventurous spirit and strong academic performance led her to Marshall University, where she pursued her education before embarking on a new chapter in her life.
Diana met 2nd Lieutenant William McLaughlin at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and the couple married on August 11, 1974. Together, they raised their two sons while moving across seven states, creating lasting memories during holidays spent on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Her unwavering love and devotion to her family were evident throughout her life.
After her sons became adults, Diana channeled her creativity into a successful career in interior design, establishing McCormick Interiors. Alongside her professional pursuits, she dedicated her time to charitable organizations that supported those in need, reflecting her compassionate nature.
Diana spent the last twenty years of her life in Williamsburg, where she became a caregiver for her late mother, Carrie McCormick. During this time, she built a close-knit community of friends and neighbors who cherished her warmth and kindness. Diana found joy in music, dancing, sunsets, and the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her sons, Brad McLaughlin and his wife, Anna, and Eric McLaughlin. Diana is also remembered by her older sister, Tamara Lee, her cousin Mary Ann Bevins, and her three grandsons, Alex, Andrew, and Patrick. Her beloved dog, Daisy, was also a cherished companion.
Diana will be laid to rest in her birthplace, Logan, West Virginia.
